A muffler delete is typically the lowest-cost option. However, it is inexpensive for a reason and often results in a harsh, tinny exhaust note. While it is frequently promoted online as a quick and cheap solution, a muffler delete can create potential issues, including adverse effects on engine performance due to altered exhaust back-pressure, as well as compliance concerns when it comes to WOF inspections. For these reasons, we generally only recommend a muffler delete if you have access to a particularly lenient WOF inspector, and we strongly advise against presenting the vehicle to AA or VTNZ for inspection with this modification.

Often, for only a small additional cost, you can upgrade to a high-flow sports muffler, which delivers a significantly better exhaust note, remains WOF-compliant, and comes with a 2-year warranty.
